I discovered a "new world" when I got my first kayak a few years ago. The feeling of the silent glide on the water in beautiful and untouched nature is fantastic. If you have a good seakayak with two watertight rooms, you can bring enough food and equipment for many days on the fjords. Here you can combine kayaking with great walks on the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Here you can read and view pictures from kayak trips in some of the fjords and lakes in Western Norway.
Kayaking and Hiking in the Nærøyfjord
We paddled out the Nærøyfjord and in to the Aurlandsfjord and left the kayaks below Stigen Farm. Then we walked up to the mountain Beitelen. From Beitelen, we had a fantastic view over the two fjords we just left.
Kayaking Lake Gjende in Jotunheimen
I started at Gjendesheim at the east end of the 20 kilometer long lake Gjende (984metre above sea level) in Jotunheimen. It was cloudy, but the sun came through in between.
Kayaking on the Lustrafjord
It was in the evening of 19th of May, the place was Skjolden in the inner part of the Lustrafjord. The evening was still young, and I just wanted to paddle a short distance to find a place for my tent.
During the recent years, the popularity of seakayaking has increased in Norway. Due to this, several companies can now offer kayak rental and guiding services. Below you have links to some of these companies in Fjord Norway.
