The Romsdalsfjord

Trollstigen and the Atlantic Road, Romsdalseggen and Midsundtrappene are great places to visit when you are in Romsdal. The Romsdalsfjord is located in the county of Møre og Romsdal, north in Western Norway.

Some highlights from the Romsdalsfjord area

The Romsdalen Valley and the Åndalsnes area (Norway’s Tirol) and well known mountains Trollveggen, Romsdalshorn and Vengetind. The National Tourist Route Geiranger – Trollstigen.

The Raumabanen Railway between Dombås and Åndalsnes is voted as Europe´s most scenic Rail Journey by Lonely Planet.

Hike the Romsdalstrappa Path or the Romsdalseggen Mountain Ridge, one of Norway´s hiking icons. Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata is also a must when you are in the area. The hike to Mt. Litlefjellet is short, but the view you get at the summit is great.

Hike up to the Mardalsfossen Waterfall, one of Norway´s highest waterfalls with its 705 metre drop, divided into two vertical waterfalls.

The small island of Håholmen is an old fishing community with 28 preserved buildings and can be reached by boat from the Geitøya island just beside the Atlantic Road.
